Poetry is like the lyric or the poem that make people think longer and deeper. Sometime it gives people the spirit and inspiration. Sometime it makes people stronger and happier. I have a good and easy poem for you and hope you like it.
I, too, sing America.
I am the darker brother.
They send me to eat in the kitchen
When company comes,
But I laugh,
And eat well,
And grow strong.
Tomorrow,
I'll be at the table
When company comes.
Nobody'll dare
Say to me,
"Eat in the kitchen,"
Then.
Besides,
They'll see how beautiful I am
And be ashamed--
I, too, am America.
In 1926 it was the age of racialism but it is right follow the legalization. As I said Langston was a black American poet that wrote the poem in the black point of view and he gave the spirit to the black people that they will become like a white people tomorrow. Langston persuaded the black people to see the good thing of being black people. He said “Beautiful is black”
and he tried to convey that the black people will be smarter and stronger than white people because they got a good thing from the racialism of white people such as separate eating that made
them strong. Furthermore, in 1020 Jack Johnson was a boxer that always overcame all
white boxer, so one day he fought with black people and the black people won and became the winner. This was show that black people was not always down that white and someday black will be American with handsome, smart, intelligent and strong too!
This poem teaches the black people to change the problem to be the chance and keep patient for the black American people day tomorrow.
